By Union Vrede FC editorial team11 April 2025
A growing Bulgarian football event bringing together communities in Belgium, the Netherlands and Luxembourg.
BFLB (Bulgarian Football League in Benelux) is a unique sports organisation that brings together Bulgarian football teams and communities in the Benelux countries – Belgium, the Netherlands and Luxembourg. The competition was founded to promote sport, friendship and cultural exchange, and has since grown into a symbol of Bulgarian solidarity abroad.
What is BFLB?
BFLB is an amateur football league made up mainly of teams of Bulgarians who live and work in the Benelux. Tournaments are held regularly and combine sporting rivalry with a genuine community celebration for families, friends and supporters of all nationalities.
Two main competitions
At present, the BFLB consists of two main competitions:
In Belgium, organised by the representative team of Union Vrede FC
In the Netherlands, organised by the representative team of Ludogorets NL Den Haag
These two core competitions form the basis of a stable and growing organisation. Yet the doors remain open – BFLB welcomes new organisers from other cities and countries to further expand and strengthen the structure.
Goals and mission
Promoting football among Bulgarians abroad
Creating a social and sporting platform for the Bulgarian diaspora
Encouraging a healthy lifestyle and team spirit
Representing Bulgarian culture through sport
More than football
The league organises regular championships, friendlies and large-scale tournaments that bring together dozens of teams and hundreds of participants. The atmosphere is festive – with music, Bulgarian food, plenty of smiling faces and strong emotions. This is more than sport – it is a cultural and social event that leaves a lasting impression on participants and spectators alike.
How can you take part?
Anyone who lives in the Benelux and loves football is welcome. Whether you are a player, coach, fan, volunteer or simply curious – BFLB invites you to become part of something big.
