A new beginning with passion and ambition: Ismail Plamenov joins Union Vrede FC

A futsal debutant and part of our first-ever beach soccer team!

We are delighted to introduce one of the new faces at Union Vrede Football Club – Ismail Plamenov, a young and motivated player who will defend our colours on the pitch, in the hall and… on the beach! Ismail is also part of Union's very first beach soccer team – a historic debut he is throwing himself into straight away.

Introduce yourself to the Union fans. Where were you born, how long have you lived in Belgium and when did you start playing sport?

“I was born in Bulgaria, in the town of Veliki Preslav. I've been living in Belgium for seven years now. My love for sport began when I was about 13 or 14. My friends and I often played football in the village – that's where it all started.”

How did your passion for futsal begin?

“That passion actually came naturally. Many of my friends played futsal, and the atmosphere was infectious. At a tournament in Brussels I really got hooked – the speed, the technique, the rhythm of the game… it clicked straight away.”

What futsal experience do you have? Where have you played before?

“I've mainly gained experience in amateur tournaments, where I was able to develop my game. This is my first step towards an official futsal team – and I'm ready for it.”

How did you hear about Union Vrede FC?

“I heard about Union through acquaintances and sports fans. The name comes up more and more often, and always in a positive way. That caught my attention immediately.”

Was it an easy decision to join Union?

“Without a doubt. When I got the invitation, I didn't have to think for long. This is a chance you don't pass up – a club with vision and ambition.”

What is your biggest dream in futsal?

“To develop to the highest level and one day represent the Bulgarian national team internationally. That would be an enormous honour.”

What do you wish for yourself in your first season at our club?

“I hope I can strengthen the team, learn a lot and share great moments with my teammates. Health, victories and plenty of motivation – that's my goal.”

A message for the team and the fans?

“I wish the team a strong season with lots of wins. To the fans: your support makes the difference. Keep standing behind us – together we are stronger!”

Welcome, Ismail! Your adventure begins on three fronts – pitch, hall and beach. We wish you every success, and may you wear the Union Vrede FC shirt with pride! 💛🖤
