A spectacular match on the muddy pitch in Rixensart

With a second consecutive win, achieved in extremely tough conditions, Union Vrede FC beat Watermael FC 3 4:2 in round 16 of Royal A.B.S.S.A. Division 5B. The victory not only confirms the team's strong form but also lifts Union Vrede FC into the top 3 of the standings, just 5 points behind second place and 9 behind the leaders, with a game in hand on the front-runners.

A spectacular match on the muddy pitch in Rixensart

The match was played in extremely difficult conditions, with the heavy, muddy pitch posing a serious challenge for both teams. The visitors, Watermael FC 3, opened the scoring, but Union Vrede FC levelled at 1:1 before Watermael were awarded a penalty. At this crucial moment Union's goalkeeper showed his class, and the missed penalty gave our team an extra boost.

After this turning point, Union Vrede FC took control of the match, scored three goals in a row and pulled away to 4:1. Watermael FC 3 did not give up, however, and made it 4:2 with a second penalty. Shortly before the end, Union had another excellent chance to score a fifth, but the mud literally stopped the ball on the goal line.

Looking ahead – away game against EQUEPAGE

With this win, Union Vrede FC are now in the top 3, and the gap to the leaders is far from insurmountable, especially with a game in hand still to come.

The next challenge is an away game against a strong EQUEPAGE side. The match takes place on Saturday 01/02/2025 at 11:00 at their ground: Avenue des Sorbiers 120A, 1342 Ottignies-Louvain-la-Neuve – Limelette.
