A promising day for our team in the Belgian beach soccer championship
By Union Vrede FC editorial team29 June 2025
As debutants who are not yet very competitive, we secured a place in the Superfinals with a dose of luck and plenty of fighting spirit!
Saturday 28 June 2025 will remain a special date in our club's history. On this day, the second of the three scheduled playoff weekends of the Belgian beach soccer championship got under way, with matches from rounds 5 and 6 on the programme.
The matches were played on the sand of the Perwez Vamos BS stadium, where our team made its official debut in this spectacular and demanding discipline. Despite being newcomers to this arena, the day brought us something unexpected but encouraging: a place in the Superfinals, which will take place on 12 and 13 July at the FC Genappe BS beach soccer stadium – an opportunity that came thanks to a stroke of luck after a walkover win.
Our first match of the day earned us a regulatory victory over BS Athoa, who had withdrawn from the tournament. This automatically gave us three points – enough to qualify for the finals weekend.
The second match of the day – our first real test on the pitch – was against a well-prepared Zone 14 side. Our boys played with heart and soul and twice managed to take the lead, proving that we have potential and nerve. In the closing stages, the physical toll began to show, and our lack of experience on sand made the difference. Our opponents turned the game around and eventually won 4-6.
It was a defeat on paper, but a victory in experience, team spirit and development. We learn quickly and keep growing.
🙏 We would like to express our sincere thanks to our loyal partners and sponsors, without whom this adventure would not have been possible: MSwear | NNK Logistics | Sibel | SH Digital Marketing Your support is our strength and our motivation. Thank you for believing in our project!
🔜 The Superfinals in Genappe are coming! The opponents will be stronger, but so will we. With more experience, better preparation and an even greater will to succeed. Our story is only just beginning.
