An exciting, absorbing clash between the fourth- and fifth-placed sides in the 3rd Provincial Futsal division ended in an impressive win for FC Gent City.
The match got off to a slow start for both teams. The hosts defended in a low block, so few chances were created. After about 10 minutes FC Gent City opened the scoring from an opposition error. Just seconds later, however, the home side equalised: 1-1 on the scoreboard!
Action-packed second half The second half opened with an immediate push from the visitors, which quickly earned them a 1-2 lead. The hosts refused to give in, though, and capitalised on a mistake in the opponents' build-up to level the score once more: 2-2.
From then on the game changed and opened up. Both teams created chances, but FC Gent City proved more clinical in front of goal. They built a three-goal lead (2-5), after which the tempo dropped somewhat. Towards the end Gent City added two more goals to seal the win and make the final score 2-7.
Conclusion It was a match full of tension and moments of real class. Congratulations to the home side for their effort, and best of luck to both teams for the rest of the season!
